ABOUT
I have always been interested in designing pieces and handmaking objects. After moving from my hometown in Dunblane to Edinburgh to study at the Edinburgh College of Art, I established a love in abstract architecture and compositions. Finding beauty with unexpected aspects of buildings, I am drawn to bold and bulky structures.
Designing with the intention of extreme contrast, the use of only black and white within my drawings informs the absence of colour within my pieces. The extreme contrast theme is transferred into my pieces by the usage of contrasting texture, rounded vs sharp shapes, light and shadow.
My pieces are designed whilst working cohesively between both two and three-dimensional drawings. This allows for me to visually understand my designs in a rough and efficient way.
SUSTAINABILITY
I design with the intention of being environmentally conscious. I utilise ethically and environmentally friendly sourced metals and found objects. I design with the idea of durability in mind.
